| The
Barack Obama / Joe Biden Endorsement |
 |
Why? Because
while the League of Humane Voters' mission -- nationally and
in terms of our individual state chapters and local affiliates
-- is to work to change local and state legislation and support
local and state legislators who help us protect animals, we cannot
"sit this one out" and stay out of the national race. There is
too much at stake, and too much potential damage to be done to
our local and state efforts if we don't do everything we can
to support Barack Obama & Joe Biden in their fight to win the
White House. |
Given
that animal advocates must become "single
issue voters" -- voting based on the performance
of candidates in terms of animals and the environment -- we aren't
going to delve into the Obama/Biden campaign and its compelling
stands on Iraq, the economy, education, healthcare, and cleaning
up Washington (you can find out more about them, however, using
the Obama button in the upper right of this page). Many of us support
their stands on those issues, but as the League of Humane Voters,
our interests and published opinions must center on the future
of legislation that protects animals and the environment. It's
that simple. With
regard to animals, both Obama and Biden enjoy a 60% rating through
Project Vote Smart, and the Humane Society of the United States
-- that means they vote in favor of animals 60% of the time. McCain?
A dismal 40%. Click here to

Senate. |
The
danger presented by John McCain and Sarah Palin is
terrifying to those who care about animals and the environment.
You don't have to be a vegetarian wearing pleather shoes to qualify
as someone who should be (and probably is) very frightened of
the prospect of a McCain presidency. His choice of Sarah Palin
shows us that his judgment is impaired, and that he has no problem
with the stands she's taken in her very short time as a mayor
of a tiny town and then governor of a state with more moose (which
she eats) than people. Sarah Palin has supported (and
literally fought all attempts to stop) aerial wolf gunning, polar bear
trophy hunting, and drilling in the Alaskan wildlife refuge.
She isn't just a hunter herself, but someone who glorifies
killing animals and seeks to allow all forms of even the
most unsportsman-like types of "hunting". She's a life-long,
proud member of the NRA, and rather than supporting the organization
because of its stand on the Second Amendment, she does so
because of its support of hunting -- even internet and canned
hunting, which the NRA supports because it fears ANY erosion
of the rights of people with guns to do just about anything
they want with those weapons. |
Please join the League of Humane
Voters in supporting the Barack Obama / Joe Biden campaign. The
animals get no vote, wildlife can't speak for itself, and the earth
we all call home cannot pull any lever in the upcoming election.
But you can. Please make the right choice, the compassionate choice,
and vote for BARACK OBAMA and JOE BIDEN. |
